Our patient-centred approach

puts your well-being first

A family friendly clinic specialising in the treatment of back, neck and joint pain

At Charles Street Clinic our aim is to enhance the body’s own healing capacity by applying the restorative powers of osteopathy to keep you pain free – and not just from back problems, but also from conditions ranging from headaches to dizziness and digestive problems.

And our treatments are suitable for everyone – from babies and senior citizens to office workers and sports players.

We use your first appointment to record a full case history so we can understand the nature of your condition and its history. Then we conduct both an active standing examination and a passive examination lying down to obtain a working diagnosis of your problem as the basis of a personalised treatment plan.

Osteopathy is effective for treating a wide range of structural conditions including:

  • Lower and upper back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica, neuralgia and fibromyalgia
  • Sports injuries and impaired performance
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Occupational strain
  • Joint pain/dysfunction in wrists, elbows, hips, knees, ankles
  • Arthritic pain
  • Postural problems

Depending on our diagnosis, we will work directly on your joints, muscles and ligaments to identify areas of restricted mobility and reduce inflammation, relax the muscles and increase blood supply to the affected area.

Or we may apply the gentle manipulative techniques of cranial osteopathy to encourage the release of tensions throughout the head and body. This is a particularly effective treatment for babies and children.

Throughout we will actively discuss the nature of your condition and share with you helpful advice about exercises, posture and diet that will help you understand how small changes in your daily life can make a big difference to your physical comfort.

Osteopathy for all your family

effectively treating a variety of health conditions

Cranial Osteopathy is a refined and subtle osteopathic technique. It uses gentle manipulative pressure to release tensions and identify and correct mechanical disturbances and limitations in and around the joints, the skull and throughout the body.

Pregnancy is responsible for significant postural, hormonal and emotional changes in the body over a relatively short period of time. Osteopathy can treat a number of symptoms.

Osteopathy and Sport

Osteopathy is increasingly used as a performance aid and for rehabilitation following injury. It can help relieve muscle strain, knee complaints, shoulder problems and many more.

Osteopathy and Arthritis

Osteoarthritic pain, stiffness and restricted mobility can often be significantly improved with osteopathy. Treatments are targeted at reducing inflammation and applying gentle, manual osteopathic techniques to joints, muscles and ligaments.

Some Testimonials from our Clients…

Dorset

Angela is a talented and enthusiastic sports massage practitioner who has an excellent range of skills and a can-do attitude to fix aches and pains and longer term ailments. She has sorted out my sports injuries from riding and playing hockey. She also looks at the bigger picture in terms of postural and occupational conditions – I cannot recommend her highly enough! 5 star treatment!

Just wanted to say the next morning after I saw you I got up and walked down the stairs normally for the first time in maybe three years! It was very exciting! I was not in pain.I went to yoga and did the whole class! I didn’t even have to drag my left leg forward with my hand, in downward dog.

Since an accident in 1993 I’ve not been able to walk and have had very little movement in my right shoulder, arm and hand. Kim has worked wonders in releasing tendons and improving muscle movement and circulation. Thanks to her I’ve enjoyed an amazing improvement in my overall mobility.

I was already a patient of Sam Middlehurst…As a consequence of only a few treatments I was completely better and could walk easily. I was so pleased; it made all the difference to me especially as I had a toddler to look after as well!
