Address life’s challenges with our counselling service

All of us experience difficulties and challenges in our lives which are not always easy to address on our own. So the opportunity to talk freely and be heard in a safe and confidential environment can really help explore and reconcile the issues we’re facing.

The counselling service at the Charles Street Clinic provides just this opportunity and will help you look at problems in a different way with someone who will encourage you to express yourself – and respect what you have to say. You can reflect on your reaction to life’s challenges, identify coping strategies and gain more control of your life.

Counselling is appropriate for a wide range of relationship and personal problems including:

  • Relationship issues
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger management
  • Low self esteem
  • Bereavement
  • Divorce
  • Life changes
  • Social phobia
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Panic attacks
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Abuse (mental, physical, sexual)
  • Eating disorders
Christine Pyatt, BA

Christine Pyatt, BA is our British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited counsellor with a degree in psychology. In practice since 1997, she has developed a creative and caring style of counselling that draws upon cognitive–behavioural, transactional analysis, person–centred and psycho–dynamic therapies.

Christine is able to offer supervision to counsellors. She has experience working in a holistic way with bereavement and loss, and can provide good support for counsellors.

"Your first counselling session is an assessment during which we’ll explore your needs and expectations, highlighting the areas and issues you wish to address," Christine explains. "A recommended course of treatment will take, on average, between six and eight weekly or fortnightly sessions."

"I thought I was just feeling a bit down, adjusting to a few life changes and went to see Christine over a period of six months. She has literally changed my life – I am more in touch with myself and am happier and more relaxed than I have ever been. It has been an amazing journey."
